Empowering Women Lawyers in Balochistan Moot Court

56 women law students and 14 women lawyers from 14 districts of Balochistan participated in a five-day moot court designed to strengthen practical legal skills and courtroom confidence.

Funded by the European Union in Pakistan and supported by UNDP in Pakistan together with the Balochistan Bar Council, the event brought aspiring and practising advocates together to learn through realistic advocacy exercises.

Participants argued simulated cases spanning constitutional and criminal law, with a strong emphasis on human rights, gender equality and access to justice. The practical format helped bridge the gap between academic study and everyday legal practice, giving both students and women lawyers hands-on experience in drafting arguments and presenting before a bench.

Beyond competition, the moot court served as a platform for women lawyers to shine, build professional networks and take leadership roles that reinforce equal access to justice across Balochistan. The experience aimed to amplify the voice of female legal professionals within local courts and communities.

Organisers and participants noted that such targeted legal training, supported by international partners and local institutions, can strengthen legal representation for marginalized groups and create sustainable pathways for women lawyers to advance in the profession.
