In response to rising heart attack rates among younger people, a well-known cardiologist has urged everyone aged 40 and above to assemble a simple heart safety kit and keep it at home, in the office, the car, a coat pocket or a woman’s handbag.
The specialist said that sudden central chest tightness or pain that may spread to the left arm or neck, profuse sweating, a yellowish or pale complexion, difficulty breathing, a heavy sensation as if someone is sitting on the chest, or overwhelming anxiety can all be signs of a heart attack. Immediate action can make the difference between life and death.
For first aid before reaching hospital, the doctor recommended that the affected person should immediately chew and swallow one Disprin tablet, place one Angised tablet under the tongue, and affix a Deponid NTFive skin patch to the left side of the chest inside the shirt. These measures are intended to stabilise the patient during transport to emergency care.
The cardiologist noted that a ready-made heart safety kit with these items costs only fifty to fifty-five rupees and can be lifesaving when applied promptly. Carrying a heart safety kit is a simple precaution that could prevent a sudden cardiac death while help is on the way.
