Driving Curriculum Reform through Expert Dialogue

At the direction of the Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, the National Curriculum Council convened a focused group discussion to advance Curriculum Reform. The session brought together curriculum specialists from the Pakistan Institute of Education, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen, Allama Iqbal Open University, the National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority, the Federal College of Education and representatives from the private sector to consider the ongoing and emerging needs of Pakistan’s education system.

Participants unpacked key themes for future curriculum transformation, placing emphasis on inclusivity, relevance and quality. The discussion explored pathways for aligning the curriculum with global standards while remaining responsive to national priorities, and considered adjustments to curricular content, assessment practices and teacher support to meet evolving social and economic demands.

Experts identified pragmatic directions and priority actions to guide the Council’s next steps, stressing coordinated work across institutions to ensure reforms are implementable and sustained. The insights and recommendations emerging from the meeting will guide the National Curriculum Council in shaping policy options and implementation strategies for broader consultation and refinement.

As the NCC consolidates these inputs, the collaboration among PIE, IBCC, AIOU, NRKNA, FCE and private sector stakeholders is expected to inform evidence-based decisions and help translate the discussion into concrete measures that strengthen education outcomes across Pakistan.
