Breaking Rural Barriers in Chakwal Sports
Young athlete students in Chakwal have launched the Rural Sports Equity Club to promote fair access to sporting opportunities for players from rural areas. The club aims to ensure that talent and commitment, rather than privilege, determine success for aspiring athletes across the district.
The initiative is led by Abdul Muizz together with a group of local students and sports enthusiasts who organized the club’s first major event, the Chakwal Smash League 2025, on October 17 at the Gymnasium Hall, Chakwal. The tournament attracted energetic participation from young athletes and local supporters and set a practical example of how community-led efforts can strengthen rural sports pathways.
The founding team, including Muhammad Hadi Hussain and Abdullah Abbas, handled event planning and execution, demonstrating the professionalism and teamwork the club intends to foster among youth. Mentorship from renowned sports figure Tehzeeb Haider Maingan provided guidance and helped the organizers shape a competitive and structured league.
Club organizers describe their mission around three core principles: equal access, sports development, and positive youth engagement. These priorities will guide upcoming activities designed to expand the reach of Rural Sports in Chakwal and neighbouring areas.
Local business backing reinforced the event’s impact when Wasif Mahmood, owner of Al-Saliha Pharmacy on Talagang Road, and sponsor Kashi Kahoot Murid attended as chief guests. Their public encouragement underscored the role of community partners in supporting grassroots sporting initiatives and called on educational institutions and local authorities to extend practical support.
Looking ahead, the Rural Sports Equity Club plans to run inter-village and inter-district tournaments, talent camps, and awareness drives across Chakwal. By focusing on mentorship, organized competition, and community engagement, the group aims to widen pathways for rural athletes and build a more inclusive sporting culture in the region.
