NCRC Moves to Secure Child Rights in Karachi

The NCRC team led targeted court proceedings in Karachi to address a string of severe child rights violations, highlighting an urgent need for protection and legal recourse. The delegation, including Pirbhu Satyani, Member Sindh/Minorities, and Muhammad Khalid, Complaint Officer, reviewed cases spanning abduction, kidnapping and the forced conversion of a 13-year-old boy.

Proceedings also examined allegations of early and forced child marriage, sexual abuse, rape, and torture tied to inheritance disputes. The delegation confronted alarming reports that included the alleged rape of 100 children, claims of torture within an orphanage and repeated corporal punishment, stressing the gravity of systemic failures that endanger children.

Representatives from the police, relevant government authorities and complainants took part in the sessions, allowing the NCRC to press for accountability and immediate protective measures. The presence of law enforcement and officials underscored the need for coordinated action to prevent further violations and to secure justice for survivors.

NCRC officials emphasized the importance of timely investigations and sustained oversight to uphold child rights and protect vulnerable children across Pakistan. The proceedings in Karachi reflect the commission’s ongoing commitment to ensuring dignity, legal redress and safety for every child affected by these serious allegations.
