PM Youth Programme Launches Provincial Cricket League

The PM Youth Programme-Qalandars Provincial Cricket League began in Quetta on October 27, bringing a concentrated effort to identify young cricketers across Balochistan. The opening phase runs from October 27 to 31 at Bugti Stadium and sets the tone for a sustained Provincial Cricket talent hunt that aims to reach every corner of the province.

Five teams representing Quetta, Turbat, Khuzdar, Loralai and Dera Murad Jamali will compete in the initial fixtures. Players were chosen through open merit-based trials held across Balochistan to ensure equal opportunity for emerging talent and to give overlooked players a clear route into competitive cricket.

The Provincial Cricket event is part of the wider PM Youth Programme, which seeks to create a structured pathway for young athletes. By combining competitive matches with coaching and mentorship, organisers aim to provide professional exposure and real-game experience that are essential for progression into higher domestic levels.

Following the Balochistan leg, the league will extend to Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federal Capital, widening the net for talent discovery. This phased rollout intends to build a continuous pipeline of players who can feed into Pakistan’s domestic system and potentially the national team.

Beyond player selection, the initiative emphasises grassroots development and sustained support. With ongoing training, mentorship and structured competition, the PM Youth Programme-Qalandars Provincial Cricket League seeks to turn promising youngsters into professional athletes while strengthening regional ties through sport.
