Advancing Mental Health Support Through Leadership Training
SHARP CEO Mr. Mudassar Javed recently took part in an intensive training organised by GIZ Pakistan on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and leadership as part of the Social Support for Vulnerable Afghan Refugees and Host Community (SSARC) project. The programme aimed to strengthen leadership skills while deepening practical MHPSS knowledge to better respond to emotional and psychological needs.
Mr. Mudassar Javed engaged with experts and peers to explore approaches for enhancing mental health referral pathways, psychosocial interventions, and supportive community engagement. Emphasis was placed on integrating mental health principles into frontline protection services so that vulnerable individuals receive timely and dignified care.
Participation in the SSARC training reflects SHARP’s ongoing commitment to advancing mental health support and protection services across affected communities. The organisation highlighted the importance of leadership that can foster inclusive, compassionate spaces where Afghan refugees and host communities feel safe to seek psychosocial help.
By investing in both leadership capacity and MHPSS expertise, SHARP aims to improve access to essential psychosocial support and strengthen local response mechanisms, ensuring services are delivered with sensitivity to the cultural and social realities of those affected.
