SCO Mission Strengthens Election Ties in Kyrgyzstan
On November 29, 2025 Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Piao Yanfan, who leads the SCO observers mission for the early parliamentary elections to the Zhogorkk Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, met with the First Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States and head of the CIS observers mission, Igor Petrishenko.
The two sides exchanged information on the activities of their observer groups that are monitoring preparations and the conduct of the elections and discussed practical aspects of interaction between the two organisations. They agreed to maintain close working contacts as the process moves forward, underlining the SCO mission commitment to coordinated observation.
On the same day Piao Yanfan also spoke with observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to share updates and align approaches. This level of cooperation among international missions highlights regional efforts to ensure transparent procedures during the electoral period, a development that Pakistan policy watchers and regional analysts will note.
The SCO mission will continue its monitoring work and keep open channels with CIS counterparts while observers remain engaged in following the preparations and conduct of the parliamentary elections.
