Netball National Games Reach Semifinals in Karachi

The semifinal lineups for the Netball National Games are complete as the tournament moves to decisive weekend fixtures at the PSB Coaching Centre in Karachi. The Netball National Games will stage all four semifinal matches on Saturday, followed by the finals and third-place contests on Sunday when medals, trophies and certificates will be awarded.

In the men’s event Pakistan Army, Pakistan Police, Pakistan WAPDA and Pakistan Navy secured the last-four berths. The first men’s semifinal will see Pakistan Army face Pakistan Police, while Pakistan WAPDA meet Pakistan Navy in the second semifinal.

Women’s competition produced four qualifiers as well, with Pakistan WAPDA, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan Army and Sindh advancing. Pakistan WAPDA will take on Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the opening women’s semifinal and Pakistan Army will play Sindh in the second match.

Results from the previous day set the stage for the semifinals: in men’s play Pakistan WAPDA defeated Sindh 31-18, Pakistan Army beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33-17, Pakistan Navy edged Punjab 41-39 and Pakistan Police overcame Balochistan 28-11. In the women’s fixtures Pakistan WAPDA routed Gilgit-Baltistan 38-3, Azad Jammu and Kashmir beat Punjab 10-7, Pakistan Army defeated Gilgit-Baltistan 37-2 and Sindh prevailed over Azad Jammu and Kashmir 36-4.

Local fans and team officials are expected to turn out for the weekend deciders as the Netball National Games conclude with podium honours and trophies distributed to the top teams and outstanding players on Sunday.
