PRCS Celebrates Volunteers in Islamabad
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society marked International Volunteer Day in Islamabad with a spirited gathering that highlighted local youth engagement and community service. Under the theme Every Contribution Matters, students from Cadet College Hasan Abdal and other institutions took part in a march past and a stage play celebrating the Red Cross Red Crescent legacy, showcasing how PRCS volunteers bring relief and hope to communities across Pakistan.
Mrs. Farzana Naek, chairperson of the Society, thanked volunteers for their steadfast dedication and described them as the heart of PRCS humanitarian work. She urged more young people to join volunteer efforts and serve their neighbourhoods, reinforcing the message that small actions by PRCS volunteers have meaningful local impact.
Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, secretary general, highlighted the vital role volunteers play in disaster response and ongoing community programmes nationwide. Representatives from the IFRC and the German Red Cross also paid tribute to the service of volunteers and reaffirmed their support for PRCS activities in Pakistan.
The ceremony ended with shields of appreciation presented to long-serving volunteers and a cake cutting to honour everyone involved. The event underlined the continuing importance of PRCS volunteers in strengthening local resilience and ensuring timely humanitarian assistance across the country.
