Advancing Legal Education at Islamia University

Barrister Usama Malik, Director Legal Education at the Pakistan Bar Council, and Mr. Saqib Faraz, Deputy Director Legal Education at the Pakistan Bar Council, met today with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran Worthy, Vice Chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, and Prof. Dr. Rao Imran Habib, Dean of the Faculty of Law at IUB.

The discussion centered on ways to strengthen legal education at IUB by exploring collaborative initiatives aimed at curriculum development, enhanced practical training and improved pathways for student internships and professional exposure. Participants exchanged views on aligning academic programmes with contemporary legal practice and Bar Council expectations.

Speakers highlighted the importance of local relevance for law graduates in Bahawalpur and emphasised close cooperation between the Pakistan Bar Council and the university to support skill-building workshops, faculty development and student engagement projects. The meeting signalled a shared commitment to deepen ties and continue follow-up discussions to translate ideas into actionable steps for advancing legal education in the region.
