Christmas Celebration Strengthens Interfaith Unity
Islamabad, 24 December 2025 — The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony hosted a Christmas celebration in Islamabad attended by Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and Minister of State Khiel Das Kohistani, who joined Christian community leaders to cut the cake and mark the occasion.
The federal minister extended warm Christmas greetings to Pakistan’s Christian community and underlined that the teachings of all faiths promote love, compassion, peace and tolerance. He said the country’s religious and cultural diversity is a source of strength and stability, and praised the Christian community’s long-standing contributions to Pakistan’s social, economic and institutional development.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf recalled Quaid‑e‑Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s 11 August 1947 address, noting that equal rights, privileges and responsibilities for all citizens and full religious freedom were foundational to the state. He emphasized that, under the constitution, minorities enjoy political, economic and social rights, and that the present government ensures minority representation across provincial cabinets and the federal cabinet.
The minister said the ruling party has taken steps to protect personal and social freedoms for minority communities and confirmed that this year’s Christmas is being observed at the official level. He added that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony is taking active measures to conserve and restore minority places of worship and historical heritage sites.
During the Christmas celebration the federal minister distributed gifts among members of the Christian community, reaffirming the government’s commitment to interfaith harmony. The event highlighted the ministry’s role in promoting respectful coexistence and the importance of safeguarding minority rights as part of Pakistan’s national fabric.
