Pakistan-Turkiye Brothership and Future Cooperation Highlights

Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their longstanding brotherly relationship and renewed commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation during a high-level meeting at the Parliament House in Islamabad. The discussion, led by Pakistan’s Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) Convener, Ms. Shaista Pervaiz, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. İrfan Neziroğlu, emphasized the enduring bonds between the two nations under the doctrine of “One People, Two States” and outlined collaborative efforts across various sectors.
During the meeting, Ms. Pervaiz briefed the Turkish Ambassador on the devastating effects of recent flooding in Pakistan, highlighting significant human and structural losses, including fatalities, displacement, destruction of property, and extensive damage to agricultural lands and livestock. She stressed the urgent need for continued bilateral support to aid flood relief and recovery efforts, underlining the importance of solidarity in times of crisis.
The talks focused on expanding cooperation in key areas such as tourism, education, and parliamentary linkages. Both sides expressed a commitment to rejuvenating tourism policies, enhancing educational exchanges, and strengthening parliamentary and business delegations to foster economic growth. There was particular interest in launching joint programs aimed at empowering youth and women entrepreneurs, with proposals for collaborative initiatives to build capacities and facilitate economic participation.
A notable proposal put forward by Ms. Pervaiz was the creation of a Pakistan–Türkiye Cultural Cooperation Forum. This new platform aims to promote cultural exchange through thematic exhibitions, such as “Mirroring Pakistan and Türkiye,” and initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, youth skill development, and highlighting shared heritage. The forum is envisioned to serve as a structured vehicle for fostering cultural ties, mutual understanding, and economic cooperation.
The meeting also emphasized support for flood recovery programs, including vocational training for rural women, and inclusive projects for children with special needs. Both representatives agreed on the importance of fostering inclusive development and resilient communities in affected regions.
Concluding the discussion, both Pakistan and Türkiye reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening their historic brotherhood and deepening diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations. The meeting underscored a shared vision for continued partnership and mutual progress between the two nations.
