Squash Tournament Unites Youth in Peshawar
The Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Centre in Peshawar hosted a lively squash tournament on Kashmir Solidarity Day at the Mohibullah Khan Squash Complex, with over 150 male and female players taking part from across the city. The squash tournament provided a valuable platform for young athletes to display their skills while reinforcing solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
The event was organized under the supervision of PSB Squash Coach Shahzad Mohib and ran smoothly throughout the day. The closing ceremony was honoured by Squash Legend Mohibullah Khan as the chief guest, joined by Director Muhammad Akram Bhatti, Coach Shahzad Mohib and other distinguished guests who recognised the players and organisers for their commitment.
Director Muhammad Akram Bhatti said that Kashmir Solidarity Day represents Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people and highlighted the Pakistan Sports Board’s efforts to promote sports alongside national and religious occasions. He noted that events like this squash tournament help build awareness, unity and patriotism among youth while creating pathways to identify and nurture grassroots talent.
Squash Legend Mohibullah Khan praised the role of the Pakistan Sports Board in developing sports across the country and stressed that athletics keep young people engaged in positive activities while strengthening national cohesion. He also paid tribute to the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people on the occasion.
Prizes were awarded to players who delivered outstanding performances, and the organisers and coach Shahzad Mohib received special appreciation for their efforts. Participants expressed hope that similar events will continue so that more young players in Peshawar can progress and excel in squash, strengthening the local talent pipeline and community spirit.
