ICT Enrollment Drive Mobilises Private Schools

The Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) has launched a comprehensive ICT enrollment data collection and regularization drive to ensure verified student records across all private educational institutions in the Capital Territory.

A meeting chaired by Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Chairman ICT-PEIRA, brought together representatives of private schools, the Federal Directorate of Education, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and ICT-PEIRA officials to coordinate the effort. The emphasis of the drive is partnership and facilitation rather than punitive action, with stakeholders urged to work together to improve data quality.

Accurate ICT enrollment data will allow authorities to determine how many children are currently studying in schools and to identify Out-of-School Children at the Union Council level. This Union Council by Union Council approach is intended to support the Federal Minister for Education’s vision of Zero Out-of-School Children in Islamabad by targeting areas with the greatest need.

In response to requests from school representatives, ICT-PEIRA announced a one-time amnesty from 1 March to 30 April 2026 for institutions with pending registration or renewal cases. During this facilitation period, schools may submit applications for registration or renewal without penalty for late submission, enabling more institutions to become part of the regulatory framework.

ICT-PEIRA has asked school leaders to assist by providing updated lists of institutions operating in their areas so every school can be included in planning and support mechanisms. Strengthening ICT enrollment records will improve transparency, enable better resource allocation, and help address gaps in underserved communities.

By focusing on accurate data, collaboration and support for schools, ICT-PEIRA aims to strengthen educational planning and ensure that no child in Islamabad Capital Territory is left out of the education system, working toward making Islamabad a model district for educational inclusion in Pakistan.
