PMDC Relief Opens Registration for Pre 2023 Postgraduates

The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC) has approved a measure that provides relief to postgraduate medical and dental students who were admitted before 16 January 2023. The decision, taken at the Council meeting on 7 January 2026, clarifies registration eligibility for a wide group of trainees and degree holders.

Under the new arrangement, all cases of individuals who were admitted to or who completed postgraduate qualifications up to 16 January 2023 will be registered by PM&DC after the award of their degree. This PMDC relief ensures that those who met the admission cutoff can obtain formal registration once their qualification is conferred.

For candidates admitted after 16 January 2023, registration will require that the degree-awarding institution is recognized by PM&DC and that the training centre is accredited under Section 25 of the PM&DC Act 2022. The Council has emphasised compliance with these accreditation and recognition conditions for any post-2023 admissions.

The relief covers a range of postgraduate pathways including MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS and various diploma programmes awarded by Pakistani universities, institutions and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). Eligible graduates and diploma holders from these programmes are included under the registration clarification.

PM&DC has advised all eligible candidates to complete their registration in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures. The Council’s move aims to provide administrative clarity to pre-2023 postgraduates seeking formal registration and to reinforce the role of institutional recognition and training centre accreditation for subsequent cohorts.
