Saluting Pakistan Defenders on Bunyan-un-Marsoos Day
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) observed Bunyan-un-Marsoos Day at its Islamabad campus with solemn tributes and a series of commemorative activities to honor the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs.
The ceremony was chaired by Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, Vice Chancellor of SZABMU, and attended by Dr. Syed Tanseer Asghar, Registrar; Dr. Afsheen Mansoor, Controller of Examinations; Prof. Bilal, Principal School of Dentistry; Prof. Rana Imran Sikandar, Dean Medicine and Executive Director PIMS; Prof. Ayesha Ishani, and Prof. Naheed Fatima, Dean Surgery, alongside senior faculty members, heads of departments, administrative officers, students and staff.
The proceedings began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem, and an ISPR documentary that reinforced pride, emotion and gratitude for the defenders of the nation.
Acting on the Vice Chancellor’s direction, parallel commemorative programs and Youm-e-Tashakar activities were organized at the Federal Medical and Dental College, School of Dentistry and DPT College. Students delivered heartfelt speeches highlighting the bravery and discipline of the armed forces, while faculty paid tribute to soldiers who safeguard the country. The campus response underscored the belief that Pakistan’s strength rests on unity and the courage of its defenders, a theme central to Bunyan-un-Marsoos observances.
Various tribute sessions across the university honored personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for defence, peace and security. Nations are built not merely by bricks and mortar, but by sacrifice, unity, and unwavering patriotism was the spirit reflected throughout the day.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq said Bunyan-un-Marsoos Day represents resilience, discipline and national harmony that sustain Pakistan in difficult times. He paid homage to the martyrs of Marka-e-Haq and acknowledged the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy in defending the country’s sovereignty.
Prof. Khaliq emphasized that educational institutions share the responsibility of nurturing patriotism, discipline and national awareness among youth. He reiterated SZABMU’s commitment to train not only skilled healthcare professionals but also compassionate, responsible and patriotic citizens devoted to the service of Pakistan and humanity.
The observance concluded with special prayers for the peace, progress and security of the nation and for the eternal peace of the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the homeland.
