Fake Invoices: FBR Seals Five Restaurants in Islamabad

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sealed five prominent restaurants in the federal capital Islamabad for issuing fake invoices.
According to the details, the strict action of the FBR followed complaints from citizens who reported receiving counterfeit receipts from these establishments.
The Regional Tax Office (RTO) in Islamabad conducted an investigation using its Point of Sale (POS) invoicing system and tracking software to verify the authenticity of the reported receipts.
Upon confirming the fraud, a team led by Deputy Commissioner sealed the five restaurants and imposed a collective penalty of Rs. 1.5 million.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts of FBR to bring Tier-1 retailers and restaurants under the tax net through its POS Invoicing System.
As part of this drive, the FBR launched the Point of Sales Prize Scheme on October 25, which incentivizes consumers to report fake receipts via the Tax Asaan app.
Citizens who successfully identify fraudulent invoices are rewarded with cash prizes, which are directly transferred to their bank accounts.
The scheme, which began in Islamabad, will soon extend to all Tier-1 retailers across the country, aiming to curb the practice of issuing fake invoices and ensure proper tax collection for the national exchequer.
