Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the headquarters of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in China, engaging in discussions aimed at securing investments for motorway projects connecting Sukkur-Hyderabad (M-6) and Hyderabad-Karachi (M-9).
During the visit, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan met with Mr. Konstantin Limitovskiy, the Chief Investment Officer for Global Projects at AIIB. The meeting focused primarily on exploring potential funding and investment collaboration for two key motorway projects in Pakistan, namely the M-6 motorway connecting Sukkur with Hyderabad, and the M-9 motorway linking Hyderabad to Karachi.
Minister Aleem Khan highlighted the strategic significance of these projects for enhancing connectivity, facilitating trade and commerce, and stimulating economic growth and development in the region. He emphasized the government’s commitment to developing modern, sustainable infrastructure and invited AIIB to play a more significant role through financial support for these pivotal road infrastructure initiatives.
In response, Mr. Limitovskiy expressed AIIB’s interest in closely assessing the investment opportunities presented by Pakistan. Both sides agreed to further pursue discussions and negotiations to finalize the necessary details regarding financing and collaboration.
The joint discussions represent an encouraging step forward in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to improve its motorway network, which will substantially boost economic connectivity, reduce travel time, and enhance overall transportation efficiency in the region.
