Empowering Girls Through Community Action

Under the COL4D Empowering Women & Girls Project, SPARC Rawalpindi and the Golra center organised vibrant activities to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, demonstrating a clear focus on Empowering Girls across local communities. The events brought together girls, families and community members to emphasise rights, equal opportunities and the role of education in shaping futures.

Participants engaged in discussions and interactive sessions that highlighted the importance of safe learning environments and accessible schooling. By centring education in the programme, organisers stressed how Empowering Girls through education helps prevent exploitation and reduces the risk of child marriage, while opening pathways to leadership and economic participation.

The gatherings also focused on safety and protection, with local facilitators raising awareness about the signs of exploitation and practical steps families and neighbours can take to safeguard girls. Community voices, including parents and informal leaders, contributed to the conversation to ensure that measures to support girls are practical and community-owned.

Leadership activities encouraged girls to build confidence and speak about their aspirations, illustrating how Empowering Girls can create ripple effects in households and neighbourhoods across Rawalpindi and Golra. The events reinforced a commitment to follow-up community engagement and to sustain momentum for policies and programmes that remove barriers to girls access to education and safety.
