
**Pakistan Underscores Commitment to Inclusive Digital Transformation and Gender Equity at World AI Conference 2025**
At the World AI Conference 2025, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to driving inclusive digital transformation, promoting gender equity, and leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for societal good. Addressing global leaders and technology stakeholders, the Minister highlighted several key achievements underscoring Pakistan’s progress in the digital sector.
Minister Khawaja outlined Pakistan’s major milestones in advancing its digital infrastructure and inclusivity. She announced that the country has surpassed 200 million mobile subscribers, marking a significant leap in digital connectivity nationwide. The enactment of the Digital Nation Act and the launch of the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Initiative were also emphasized as pivotal steps in strengthening Pakistan’s regulatory and investment landscape for technology growth.
A notable achievement, highlighted by the Minister, is Pakistan’s leading global performance in reducing the mobile internet gender gap, as reported in the GSMA 2025 report. These efforts have led to increased digital participation by women and a more balanced digital environment. Furthermore, Minister Khawaja revealed that women now lead 35% of all startups within National Incubation Centers (NICs), reflecting their growing role in driving technological innovation.
Throughout her address, Minister Khawaja reaffirmed Pakistan’s prioritization of women in shaping the country’s digital future. She emphasized the central role women play in ethical AI development, innovation, and fostering inclusive progress. In her closing remarks, she called for continued cooperation in “shaping an AI-powered world where women lead and inclusion thrives.”
