Building Sustainable Labour Mobility Between Pakistan and Italy

The European Union, in collaboration with Pakistan and Italy, has taken a significant step forward in promoting international labour mobility through the SkillNet project. At a recent seminar attended by EU Ambassador Riina Kionka, officials highlighted efforts to establish a sustainable and cooperative framework to connect Pakistani talent with job opportunities in Italy.
SkillNet, funded by the European Union, is designed to bridge the gap between Pakistani workers and the Italian job market. The initiative not only facilitates employment connections but also provides skills training to better prepare candidates for overseas work. An important feature of SkillNet is its emphasis on the mutual recognition of qualifications, which aims to ensure that Pakistani professionals’ credentials are acknowledged across borders.
Another key objective of the program is to promote safer migration pathways, addressing challenges traditionally associated with international labour movement. By offering structured support and guidance, SkillNet contributes to protecting the rights and welfare of migrant workers.
Ambassador Riina Kionka’s remarks during the seminar underscored the collaborative spirit behind the project, describing the event as a pivotal moment in advancing international labour cooperation. The seminar brought together stakeholders from the EU, Pakistan, and Italy, all of whom are committed to fostering mobility, improving employment prospects, and building strong partnerships between nations.
