Pakistan Iran Ministers Discuss Trade and Transport Cooperation

Iranian Minister Holds High-Level Talks in Pakistan to Boost Transport and Trade Cooperation
Iranian Minister for Road and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadeq, met with senior Pakistani officials in Islamabad to discuss expanding cooperation in transport, infrastructure, and trade, especially through improved road and rail networks. The meeting included Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal, and Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi.
Discussions focused on enhancing road infrastructure, upgrading border crossing points, improving cargo transit facilities, and fostering trade links through the railway network. Pakistani officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening regional connectivity, developing special economic zones, and upgrading trade routes along the Pakistan-Iran border.
Farzaneh Sadeq conveyed Iran’s strong interest in deepening collaboration with Pakistan in economic development, infrastructure, and transportation. She emphasized that better road and rail connections could significantly increase trade between the two countries.
Participants also highlighted the need to align the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with Iran’s regional policies to unlock new economic opportunities. The meeting was seen as an important step toward establishing joint working groups and ensuring the timely completion of projects to benefit both nations.
