Zamurrad Khan Meets Acting President Gilani on Welfare

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani received Zamurrad Khan, Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Sweet Home, who updated him on the charity’s expansion from a single rescued child to a nationwide welfare initiative and its Syeda Fatima tuz Zahra Dastarkhwan programme, which provides thousands of free meals daily and is assisting flood-affected areas. Several political leaders also paid calls on the Acting President, and a prayer was offered for a recently deceased family member.

During the meeting, Mr Gilani praised the work of Pakistan Sweet Home and underscored the need for sustained social welfare programmes to support vulnerable communities across the country. He welcomed the organization’s efforts to provide care and opportunities for disadvantaged children.

Zamurrad Khan explained that Pakistan Sweet Home began with one internally displaced child under the patronage of Mr Gilani when he was Prime Minister and has since developed into a nationwide initiative serving orphaned and underprivileged children. He outlined the organization’s growth and ongoing priorities.

Khan also briefed the Acting President on the Syeda Fatima tuz Zahra Dastarkhwan project, which delivers free meals to more than 7,000 people each day and has expanded its services to aid communities affected by recent floods.

Later, former Deputy Chairman of the Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali, Senator Zarqa Suharwardy, former MNA Nadeem Afzal Chan and Muhammad Ashraf Waraich met with Mr Gilani. A prayer was offered for the late Tanvir ul Hassan Gilani, the Acting President’s cousin.
