Pakistan-Palestine Sign MoU to Boost Health Cooperation

Pakistan and Palestine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen bilateral cooperation in the health sector, committing to joint capacity-building, clinical collaboration and research across a range of medical specialties. The agreement was signed by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal and the Palestinian Ambassador, with senior Pakistani health officials in attendance.

The ceremony was attended by Federal Secretary of Health Hamid Yaqoob, the Additional Secretary of Health and the Director General of Health. The MoU formalizes cooperation between the two governments and sets a framework for practical collaboration in medical services and training.

Under the terms of the agreement, Pakistan will establish a Pakistan–Palestine Health Working Group within 30 days to oversee implementation and provide guidance on collaborative activities. The working group will coordinate joint projects, training exchanges and other initiatives arising from the MoU.

Key areas identified for capacity-building include interventional cardiology, organ transplantation, orthopedic surgery, endoscopic ultrasound, and burn and plastic surgery. The agreement also highlights cooperation on infectious diseases, ophthalmology and pharmaceutical services, and calls for exploration of joint research opportunities.

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal said the pact aims to improve health and well-being in both countries and reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to support Palestinian health needs. The Palestinian Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the Health Minister, describing the two countries as brotherly and committing to collaborative work to enhance health services for their populations.

Both sides indicated they will move quickly to translate the MoU into concrete programs, exchanges and research partnerships designed to strengthen health systems and clinical expertise in Pakistan and Palestine.
