Empowering Palestine with BLS Course Training

On October 12, 2025, the launching ceremony for a one-month online BLS Course for Palestinian nationals was held at the Al-Khwarizmi Conference Room, OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, marking a collaborative effort by COMSTECH, Fatima Memorial Hospital and NUR International University.

H.E. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH, highlighted that capacity development through education and training is a powerful way to empower communities facing adversity. He described the initiative as both a gesture of solidarity and a long-term investment in human capital and health resilience in Palestine, and he thanked Fatima Memorial Hospital, NUR International University, the OIC and the Representative Office to the State of Palestine for their support.

Prof. Dr. Farooq Anwar, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NUR International University, reiterated the university’s commitment to provide academic and technical support for humanitarian training programs, while Tawfiq Khader, Counsellor at the Embassy of Palestine in Pakistan, expressed appreciation for the continuing backing of OIC-COMSTECH and its partners for the Palestinian cause.

Prof. Dr. Omar Melad, Vice Chancellor of Al-Azhar University Gaza, and Mr. Ahmad Ali Hanoun, Director General of the OIC Representative Office to the State of Palestine, joined the ceremony online and conveyed their gratitude for a course designed to address urgent local needs in emergency response and trauma care.

The BLS Course was conceived in direct response to the urgent need to strengthen emergency healthcare capacities among Palestinian medical professionals and youth, with recent humanitarian crises in Gaza underscoring the importance of timely life support and trauma management. COMSTECH framed the program within its broader commitment to promote science, technology and innovation for the collective progress of OIC member states, with particular focus on aiding the people of Palestine.

The month-long online programme delivers structured modules covering Basic Life Support and CPR, trauma and wound management, spinal and limb immobilization, psychological support and physical rehabilitation. Designed specifically for Palestinian nationals, the BLS Course aims to equip participants with practical skills and confidence to improve emergency care while remaining in their homeland.
