Advancing Poverty Reduction Through CVE Collaboration

The Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund organized a consultative dialogue in Karachi to advance Poverty Reduction by forging a stronger interface between the Sindh Centre of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism, PPAF, and Sindh-based civil society organizations, focusing on community-driven Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism efforts.

Mr Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar attended as Chief Guest, accompanied by senior officials including Mr Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Mr Azad Khan, Additional IG CTD, Mr Muntazir Mehdi, Prosecutor General Sindh, and Mr Naveed Arain, Deputy Secretary Home Department, who discussed ways to align government actions with local initiatives.

Speakers highlighted the direct link between deprivation and the risk of radicalisation, stressing that coordinated Poverty Reduction and PCVE strategies should be rooted in social inclusion, livelihood support, and community resilience. Civil society partners were recognised for their essential role in promoting peace, inclusion, and durable local solutions.

Participants acknowledged PPAF partners’ deep grassroots experience across Sindh and reaffirmed commitments to scale community-led programmes that combine poverty alleviation with measures to prevent violent extremism. The dialogue was described as a meaningful step toward strengthened collaboration between government and civil society for inclusive and lasting development in the province.
