PMDC Meeting Seeks Solutions for 2025-26 Admissions
Islamabad, 18 November 2025 — The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council convened a high-level PMDC meeting at its headquarters to address mounting student concerns about the 2025-26 admission policy following recent media reports that raised stress and uncertainty among applicants.
All key stakeholders were invited, including PM&DC council members, vice chancellors from medical universities, representatives from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) and legal experts. Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, attended as a special invitee to observe deliberations and lend parliamentary perspective.
The PMDC meeting aimed to ensure that every possible avenue is explored to provide clarity and maximum relief to students. Council members stressed a duty to leave no stone unturned in identifying practical solutions that facilitate a smooth admissions process for this academic session.
PM&DC emphasised that it treats each student as part of its extended family and is committed to offering full cooperation across all platforms to reduce anxiety and administrative hurdles during this critical phase of their careers.
Council members also clarified the legal position regarding MDCAT validity, noting that the three-year validity period is explicitly defined by law and falls within the parliamentary domain. At the same time the PMDC meeting reaffirmed the Council’s determination to safeguard students’ interests and avoid actions that could compromise their future.
All concerns and suggestions submitted by student groups were carefully considered during the session. The PMDC confirmed it will provide full cooperation in any court proceedings, presenting all viable options transparently so the judiciary can consider measures that maximize relief and facilitation for candidates. The Council noted that any court decision will be final and binding on institutions and applicants, and pledged to implement such decisions promptly and without exception.
Participants left the PMDC meeting with a clear commitment from the Council to continue engagement with stakeholders and student representatives, ensuring that candidates can proceed with confidence and certainty as the admissions process moves forward.
