Driving Change in Road Safety at PMAS AAUR

A comprehensive traffic awareness session at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi brought City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani and Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam to address students, faculty and staff on road safety and responsible driving. The officers presented practical guidance on traffic discipline and the importance of obeying road safety laws, stressing the collective role of youth in creating a safer and more civilized traffic culture in Rawalpindi.

Both speakers emphasised that adherence to traffic rules can save lives and reduce accidents, urging young motorists and riders to prioritise safety and lead by example on city roads. The discussions highlighted everyday precautions including helmet use, compliance with speed limits and respect for traffic signage as essential elements of road safety.

To make services more accessible, a driving license facility was set up on campus so students and staff could apply for or renew licences without travelling to municipal centres. An interactive quiz on traffic rules engaged participants, and students who answered correctly were presented with safety helmets to reinforce the message that protective gear is crucial for motorcycle riders.

The university administration thanked the Rawalpindi Police for their cooperation and acknowledged the efforts of Syed Khalid Hamdani and Farhan Aslam for their active participation and continued support in educating the youth on traffic safety and enforcement. The initiative forms part of ongoing campus activities to strengthen road safety awareness among future drivers.
