Strengthening Women Protection Systems in Punjab
The provincial roundtable convened by Peace & Justice Network (PJN) in partnership with the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA) focused on strengthening women protection through integrated response and institutionalization under the AawazII initiative.
Civil society experts, government representatives and district-level stakeholders exchanged practical recommendations to make the women protection system more responsive and sustainable. Bushra Khaliq (Executive Director, WISE), Nabila Bhatti (Gender and Child Rights Expert) and Ahmar Majeed (Advocate and Human Rights Expert) were among those who presented clear proposals aimed at reinforcing local capacity and coordination.
Speakers emphasized aligning district mechanisms with provincial policy, improving referral pathways, embedding community-led practices into institutional frameworks and ensuring continued support for grassroots AawazII activities. The recommendations sought to bridge gaps between service providers, strengthen accountability and secure resources for long-term women protection at the community level.
Participants highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between civil society and government actors to translate the roundtable guidance into actionable steps across Punjab, with district stakeholders playing a central role in implementing and monitoring improvements to the women protection system.
