Driving Quality Education in FDE Schools

On December 30, 2025 in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui formally launched the FDE Quality Education and Innovation Roadmap in a ceremony attended by Federal Secretary Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, Director General Federal Directorate of Education Syed Junaid Akhlaq and senior officials from the Federal Directorate of Education and the Project Coordination Unit.

Federal Secretary Mr. Nadeem Mahbub said the roadmap is aligned with the national vision to ensure equity and Quality Education across federal schools. He explained that the plan is structured around five interconnected pillars designed to deliver systemic and sustainable reforms that strengthen learning outcomes and school management.

The roadmap highlights Digital and Innovative Learning, Policy Formulation and Review and an Enabling Learning Environment among its core pillars, with each pillar intended to reinforce the others as part of a cohesive effort to raise standards. Officials emphasised that these measures aim to modernise classroom practices, update regulatory frameworks and improve conditions for students and teachers in FDE institutions.

Director General Syed Junaid Akhlaq and representatives from the Project Coordination Unit outlined the implementation approach, noting that collaboration between the ministry, FDE administrations and technical partners will be central to turning the roadmap into actionable programmes. The initiative positions Quality Education at the centre of federal school reforms and seeks to guide phased interventions across schools managed by the Federal Directorate of Education.

Stakeholders said the roadmap provides a clear framework for monitoring progress and ensuring that digital tools, policy review and improvements to the learning environment contribute to long-term, sustainable gains for students in Pakistan’s federal school system.
