Driving Women Empowerment Through Culture and Heritage

Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture and Member of the National Assembly from Pakistan Muslim League (N), delivered a special address on International Women’s Day stressing the essential role women play in national development and cultural identity. She highlighted that Pakistani women contribute across families and public life and are central to preserving the nation’s values and traditions.

In her remarks she noted that women do not only shape domestic life but also lead in education, politics, the economy, arts and social services. Their contribution to safeguarding cultural heritage and passing customs to younger generations is invaluable, and this cultural stewardship is integral to broader efforts for women empowerment across Pakistan.

Farah Naz Akbar said the government is prioritizing education, vocational training and employment opportunities so women can participate fully in public and economic life. She called for systemic measures to ensure equal access and urged lawmakers and community leaders to support initiatives that promote women empowerment and social inclusion.

She underscored that Islam grants women respect, dignity and fundamental rights, and emphasized the responsibility to translate these principles into practical policies and everyday practice. Implementing those values, she said, is vital to creating a just and balanced society.

Concluding her message, she extended warm greetings to Pakistani women on International Women’s Day and reaffirmed that an educated, confident and empowered woman is the cornerstone of a strong family and a prosperous nation. She called on institutions and citizens to work together to build safe, dignified and enabling environments where women can thrive.
