Mass Tree Plantation Mobilizes PMAS-AAUR Attock

On May 1, 2026, PMAS-AAUR Sub-Campus Attock organized a large-scale tree plantation campaign that brought together university officials, district administration representatives, environmental authorities, students, faculty and staff from various government and educational institutions. The campaign reinforced the campus commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience through hands-on participation.

Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, Vice Chancellor of PMAS-AAUR, said tree plantation is one of the most effective and practical measures to combat climate change, reduce pollution and improve air quality. He urged educational institutions to lead by example, using research, education and outreach to foster stewardship of natural resources and engage youth in sustained tree plantation and conservation efforts.

Mr. Rao Atif Raza, Deputy Commissioner Attock, highlighted the urgency of planting trees amid rising temperatures and urban expansion and called on every citizen to take responsibility for making Pakistan greener. He emphasized that collaborative tree plantation campaigns between universities and public departments are essential to secure a healthier environment for future generations.

Speakers also paid tribute to the country’s labour force on Labour Day, noting that the same dedication that builds the nation’s infrastructure is needed to protect and restore the environment. The joint observance of Labour Day and the tree plantation drive underscored a shared message of productivity, responsibility and service to the nation.

Faculty members, students, administrative staff and guests participated enthusiastically in planting activities across the campus, and the event concluded with a collective pledge to continue tree plantation efforts and adopt environmentally responsible practices in daily life. The Sub-Campus stressed that ongoing community engagement and follow-up care for saplings will be key to turning the one-day drive into lasting environmental benefit for Attock.
