Parliament House Joins Earth Hour 2026
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq directed a ceremony outside Parliament House in Islamabad to mark Earth Hour 2026, with building lights switched off from 8:30pm to 9:30pm as part of the global campaign.
According to the Speaker, Earth Hour is not merely a symbolic hour but a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to environmental sustainability. He said energy conservation measures at Parliament House are being strictly enforced and that turning off unnecessary lights each year is an important visible step.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that small individual actions, when multiplied across society, create lasting and meaningful change. He warned that Pakistan is facing multiple challenges from climate change and called for comprehensive policy making and effective implementation to protect future generations.
The Speaker highlighted the urgent need to reduce air pollution and cut harmful emissions, promote sustainable use of natural resources and adopt environment-friendly habits in everyday life. He urged citizens to treat Earth Hour as a starting point for continuous responsibility rather than a one-off gesture and praised WWF Pakistan’s awareness campaign for supporting these objectives.
