Munna Bhaiya is Back as Mirzapur Sets for the Big Screen

Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment are set to bring their popular crime-thriller series Mirzapur to the big screen.
Known for its gripping portrayal of crime and power dynamics in northern India, Mirzapur has captivated digital audiences and is now slated for a cinematic release in 2026, as reported by Variety.
Directed by Puneet Krishna, the series’ original creator, with co-direction from Gurmmeet Singh—who previously directed 17 episodes of the show—the Mirzapur film is expected to retain the gritty essence that made the series a success.
Following an eight-week theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video across 240 countries, giving fans worldwide, including those in Pakistan, the chance to watch it later.
Excel Movies shared a teaser on social media, hinting at the film’s heightened stakes. Series regulars like Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu appear in the promo, with Fazal’s character, Guddu Bhaiya, reinforcing his fearless spirit.
Divyenndu, as Munna Tripathi—who met a shocking end in season two—teases his “immortality,” adding to fans’ anticipation.
Following the recent success of Mirzapur season 3, Prime Video has also announced a fourth season, slated to follow the film’s release.
The cinematic adaptation promises to explore the complex world of Mirzapur more intensely, with the return of the original cast, including Tripathi, Fazal, and Banerjee.
Manish Menghani, Prime Video India’s content licensing head, shared, “Mirzapur’s cinematic expansion brings fans a new depth to the franchise.”
