Advancing Child Nutrition with PSPA UNICEF

A UNICEF delegation led by the Chief of Child Nutrition and Development, Anteneh Girma Minas, visited the Punjab Social Protection Authority office for a strategic meeting with PSPA CEO Ali Shehzad. The visit focused on strengthening collaboration to advance child nutrition across Punjab, with particular attention to aligning PSPA systems with UNICEF support.

Participants discussed ways to amplify outreach and coordinate interventions that support better nutrition practices for young children and mothers. Both sides emphasized the importance of joint advocacy, data-driven planning and community engagement to promote lasting improvements in child nutrition.

The delegation and PSPA explored advancing a social and behavioral change advocacy campaign under the Aghosh Program, aiming to raise awareness and shift practices that affect early childhood nutrition. The meeting highlighted opportunities for coordinated messaging, capacity building and local partnerships to ensure the campaign reaches vulnerable communities across the province.

Stakeholders agreed to continue dialogue and develop a road map for collaboration that leverages UNICEF expertise alongside PSPA’s provincial mandate. The discussions mark a step toward a more integrated approach to child nutrition in Punjab and stronger support for families through the Aghosh Program.
