RDA Acts to Resolve University Town Issues Quickly
Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority Kinza Murtaza chaired a meeting with affectees of the University Town Housing Scheme and assured them that their long-standing issues would be addressed on a priority basis.
Following directions from Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, the DG said matters related to plot allotments, plot positions, possession of areas and development works for University Town affectees will be resolved within the shortest possible time.
Ms. Murtaza instructed officers from Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering, Estate Management and other concerned RDA departments to perform their duties without fear and to continue strict action against illegal elements affecting the housing sector.
She informed participants that a formal communication has been sent to the National Accountability Bureau regarding the University Town matter, and that the blocked access road through the Eighteen Housing Scheme will be reopened soon to ease difficulties faced by residents and commuters.
The DG reiterated RDA’s commitment to protect citizens’ rights through impartial and decisive measures, strict enforcement of urban development laws, elimination of fraud and corruption, and strengthening internal accountability to promote transparency across projects including University Town.
Citizens were strongly advised to avoid investing in illegal housing schemes and to conduct transactions only with approved projects listed on the official RDA website www.rda.gop.pk. The meeting included Director Estate Management Aabgeenay Khan, Deputy Director Estate Management Masood Arshad, Deputy Director Admin Waqar Ahmed, Deputy Director Town Planning Ali Raza, Chairman University Town Affectees Committee Umar Siddique Khattak and affectees from across the country.
