PML-N Policies Strain Relations with People’s Party, Sparks Concerns

Islamabad: Tensions between the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and the People’s Party have escalated due to what the latter perceives as wrong policies by the former, leading to a frosty relationship between the two political entities.
Sources within the political circles reveal that assurances made by PML-N President and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the central leadership of the People’s Party have not been upheld. Before the formation of the federal government, Shehbaz Sharif had reportedly promised that officers from the People’s Party with a commendable track record would not face removal during the PDM era. However, recent actions, including the removal of officers like Shoaib Khoso, Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, have strained relations further.
The decision to remove officers from other institutions, including Khoso, has raised eyebrows within the People’s Party leadership. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding the demolition of the Islamabad tennis complex, which occurred against court orders. The People’s Party leadership has decided to address these issues directly with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other relevant forums.
If the targeted actions against officers and institutions affiliated with the People’s Party are not withdrawn, the People’s Party leadership has warned of potential strict actions in response. This escalation underscores the growing tensions within Pakistan’s political landscape, with implications for the stability of the ruling coalition and broader governance issues.
The matter remains under scrutiny as both parties navigate their relationship amidst mounting concerns and political pressures.
