PMAS-AAUR Launches International Seminar
Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi launched its first International Seminar Series with a hybrid inaugural session aimed at strengthening global research ties and exposing Pakistani scholars to emerging technologies. The event, held both in-person and online, positions the university as an early adopter of a formal international seminar platform in Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman formally opened the session and praised the initiative as a major step toward building international academic linkages. The Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of sustained engagement with global research networks so faculty, researchers, and students can access cutting-edge scholarship and collaborative opportunities.
The programme featured two presentations by Canadian experts. Dr. Mathieu Bilodeau of Dalhousie University presented on Circle Grammetry for Drone Imaging, demonstrating a novel technique to improve 3D mapping and remote sensing workflows. Mr. Muhammad Saadullah Khan from the University of Prince Edward Island offered insights on AI-Driven Geospatial Frameworks for Precision Agriculture and Land Risk Resilience, underlining practical applications of artificial intelligence in sustainable land management and farming systems.
The International Seminar reflects active collaboration between PMAS-AAUR and several Canadian universities, including Dalhousie University, University of Prince Edward Island, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the University of Guelph. Organisers credited the efforts of coordinators Prof. Dr. Aitazaz A. Farooque (UPEI) and Dr. Travis Esau (Dalhousie University) for bringing the partnership to fruition and facilitating the seminar platform.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman thanked the collaborating institutions, coordinators, and speakers for their contributions and acknowledged the wide participation of Deans, Directors, faculty, researchers, supervisors, co-supervisors, and postgraduate students. The strong turnout was described as evidence of PMAS-AAUR’s growing research culture and commitment to academic excellence, with the Directorate of Advanced Studies receiving congratulations for organising the landmark event.
The International Seminar Series is expected to provide ongoing opportunities for joint research, knowledge exchange, and capacity building, reinforcing PMAS-AAUR’s role in connecting Pakistani academia with international research expertise.
